One of my favorite parts of living abroad is hosting family when they visit. Besides getting caught up on family affairs and getting to know my family members better, I always love seeing Japan through a fresh pair of “traveler eyes”. I’m able to tell so much about them as a person through how they experience the new environment they’ve thrown themselves into.
This trip saw my cousin traveling with a group of his friends from Canada. We all clicked and had fun.
One side trip from Tokyo they wanted to take was to Mount Fuji, so after multiple train and bus transfers we found ourselves at the “5th station”. The sun was perfect and the T2 and FUJI X-TRA performed amazing. I loved how these colors came out and for many years forward used these photos as benchmarks of what this camera and film stock could do under the correct circumstances.
The only thing I would change if I were less lazy would be to re-scan these negatives as the Kitamura Camera film scan data is quite pixelated.
