👋🏽
Hi. I’m Jordon. Originally from Canada but now live in Japan.
I love to shoot film and I love to travel. I am not a professional in either. There are literally a kazillion websites dedicated to film photography but not many I could find about traveling with film. One example that served great inspiration for this site is the wonderful Film Based Traveler. So while everyone rushes to start their subscription based Substacks in the year 2021, I started a free blog.
It's also important to note that by no means do I consider myself a writer. I struggled putting all of this copy together. Overall, this site took a tremendous amount of time to put together. If you got anything from it please consider supporting me by purchasing some of my previous projects. Tokyo Postcards are a set of odd photo postcards from Tokyo. Is This Is? is my first zine published in 2018(?) about a breakup. Or reach out to the email below to purchase a hand print from the darkroom of photo on this site.
Each post is a trip outside of my home turf, Tokyo. Some of these posts were written many years after the actual trip. Hopefully some if the photos turned out 🙂
For each trip I’ll post the camera, film stocks used, and photo lab/post processing info that I can remember.
Most links go directly to GoogleMaps (for your bookmarking convenience) or to related internal blog posts or Wikipedia or whatever.
I have little patience for post production so many of the photos posted on this site are horribly in need of color correction and much much more. Funny how much time and thought I put into the film process as a whole but miserably fail at this important step. I hope my shared knowledge works in your favor as most of this work is a good reflection of certain lab styles and/or scanner outputs.
