Back in Thailand for a family getaway.
This is not a roughing-it-out-in-a-hostel-dorm-with-a-tight-food-budget kind of trip.
This was more of a pass the sunscreen I'm going to the pool kind of thing.
There were so many Russians at our resort my dad joked that being in the courtyard felt like being in a Russian prison.
We had fun doubling up on the rental scooter for a couple of days. Beach hopping, eating all the tasty foods, and visiting Phuket old town.
There was one exceptional meal I would like to highlight. While walking around the old town we noticed a little activity outside this modest looking local joint called Khun Yod Pak Restaurant. Between the kitchen and the street is an open BBQ, grilling all kinds of things that Thais do best. To enter the restaurant you walk past the BBQ. Amazing! Inside is clean, cheep, and everything we had was amazingly flavorful. Meat on sticks, noodle dishes, the Thai version of shumai, all the various sauces. It was all extremely memorable and affordable. Best of all, not another tourist in sight. Instant favorite.
