Hisashiburi Kyoto trip.
I woke up one day and realized I live approximately 500km from Kyoto and hadn't visited in 7 years (last visit post here). Although more than half of that was in part due to Covid, this was unacceptable behavior and I booked train tickets immediately. Another catalyst for the trip was my recent subject of study: stone gardens.
Obviously, I fell back in love immediately after stepping on the Shinkansen. This trip I brought my bicycle with - one of the biggest successes of this trip. Riding around a flat, easily laid out city like Kyoto on your own wheels is the dream. The familiarity of your bike in a city full of places you want to visit is one of my favorite feels of travel.
I started in Ryoanji, same as last trip, to wet my feet. Unforgettable. From there, Daitoku-ji, an unforgettable and new favorite Kyoto spot. Here you can visit a number of stone gardens within the same vicinity.
There were some light leeks coming in on some of the first CineStill slides which turned out charming. I admit the film stock may not have been the best select for the weather, but Kyoto translates well no matter what.
